Richard Bourne

Within a context of social policy debates and legal strategies, this course examines current issues in family violence. Such legal procedures as criminal prosecution of offenders and removal of children from biological parents are discussed with illustrations drawn from case studies and observation. The course focuses on families in trouble, with particular emphasis on child and spouse abuse and the battered elder.
