What is a bitcoin?
Bitcoins are a peer to peer payment system that is not controlled by a bank or a central body,
making it a much more discrete and decentralized payment system. While credit/debit cards are highly
regulated, bitcoins are transferrable directly between two parties, making it the closest thing to
virtual or digital cash. Because of their discreet nature, bitcoins have been and still are involved with several shady and
illegal transactions, such as online black markets like "Silkroad". While bitcoins are convenient,
they posses a high susceptibility for illegal exploitation.
