1-2:15 pm

Daniel L. Goroff

This is an introduction to data analysis and computing. Topics will include the graphical presentation of data, descriptive statistics, correlation and regression, sampling and hypothesis testing, and rates of growth. The course is designed not only to teach basic statistical techniques but, more importantly, to encourage students to become critical users of quantitative methods. The course will provide an introduction to the personal computer, and computers will be used whenever appropriate. Not ordinarily open to Harvard College students who have taken courses with a substantial quantitative component.
