scroll left to view six 15 in. x 19 in. pages of five silkscreened colors already prepared. one rectangular screen used to print silver background. three screens made with sumi-ink patter drawings on duralar used to print orange, yellow, blue and green texture. water applied to paper before printing silver background created stippled texture that left some white paper visible. a page shown with duralar screen that will be used to print further layers of texture including black, white, and silver as well as brighter, darker, and variously warm and cool colors, to create a sense of depth. i may paint alternate layers of splattered color using acrylic paints and brushes directly onto paper. black paper cutouts used to test composition possibilities. new texture layers described previously to be alternated with layers of cutout imagery. cutout imagery will be printed in black and layers of more or less translucent silver. wax paper used to visualize effect of translucent overlay. examples of variously-scaled and shaped cutouts. the idea of printing some forms as translucent silver is to see whether, as the viewer moves along the six panels, light reflecting off the otherwise low-visibility silver would bring reflective forms into momentary visibility. in that way, the series of panels would appear animated. i will cut the vertical panel edges before applying new layers of texture and forms, so that compositions and texture flow smoothly from panel to panel. each panel will be approximately 15" x 19" inches after tirmming. depending on whether the panels place horizontally or vertically, the assembled polyptich will be either 19" x 90" or 15" x 114"
