Setting
The Orphan who spoke for Peace is a simple folk tale that reveals the
world of a young orphan living in an inner city urban setting who spoke for the
cause of Peace. The theme behind the folk tale begins with a narrative description
of how the little orphan encountered the characters in an inner city setting
that influenced his life as he moved from shelter to shelter and school to school.
Main
Characters
The characters in the folk tale, The Alley
Cats, the A Street Gang Leader and the Street Musician always left the orphan
with a bad feeling and bitter taste in his mouth. The orphan had always tried
to turn each experience with them into a positive one.The Alley Cats, the A Street Gang Leader and
the Street Musician all watched the little orphan’s comings and goings as he
ambled along the muralled walls, corner stores and inner city streets and alleys.
Plot
The Alley Cats and A Street Gang
Leader became suspicious of each other and eventually of the little orphan. The
A Street Gang Leader came to believe that the orphan brought them bad luck. The
Alley Cats believed that the A-Street Gang Leader and the little orphan were
trespassing onto their land. The Alley Cats and the A-Street Gang Leader had a
secret meeting to consider waging a war against the little orphan. The Street Musician overheard the plot to
eliminate the little orphan and warned the little orphan of their plan and
unknowingly probably saved his life.
The little orphan was
street wise and had a certain savvy. Early one morning, the orphan was
approached by the A Street Gang Leader .The A Street Gang Leader told him that
from now on he is an outsider. He warned the little orphan that he was being
watched. He told the little orphan that the Alley Cats and the A Street Gang were going to wage war against him. The little orphan stood up on
that inner city corner, looked up at the A Street Gang Leader and
spoke up. He asked the leader of the A Street Gang if he had forgotten the
mutual respect, friendship and peace they should have had toward each other.
The little orphan spoke for the cause of peace by reminding the A Street Gang
Leader of the peace they should have toward each other rather than bloodshed or
war.
