Brazilian Beans and Rice 1 14oz can black beans 1 italian sausage, diced 1 onion, diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 bay leaf 1/2 tsp thyme 1/4 cup water salt and pepper to taste Fry the sausage in its own fat. Add onion and garlic, fry until tender. Add beans, bay leaf, salt, pepper, and water. Bring to a simmer. Let cook at least fifteen minutes, preferably 30. Adjust salt and pepper and serve with rice.
