Introduction to Acting

Section 2: Thomas Derrah -- T, Th 1-3:30 pm
Section 3: Stephen Rowe -- M, W 1-3:30 pm

Students will learn the problems, processes, and techniques of the actor. Exercises will concentrate on the development of observation, focus of attention, and the effective use of materials drawn from life. Work on acting scenes will include an approach to textual analysis, as well as practice in communication, personal involvements, and the accomplishment of stage tasks. Classwork will include extensive individual coaching and will culminate in a presentation of scenes developed in the course.
