Russian Internship Grants
The Davis Center is pleased to offer grants to help defray costs of internships in Russia for summer 2007.
Funding
These grants cover partial funding towards internship expenses (visa, airfare, travel insurance, room and board) for an internship of six to eight weeks. Students must maintain a strict budget and, upon return, provide a documented account of how the grant was spent. The grant may not be used for personal entertainment, including personal travel. Only expenditures clearly incurred on internship-related activities will be covered by these grants. Financial need may be taken into account in determining award amounts.
Eligibility
Full-time currently-enrolled freshman, sophomores, and juniors at Harvard College who have a confirmed offer of a low-paying or unpaid internship with a business or organization in Russia.
Requirements
We strongly encourage prospective interns and host organizations to formulate a contract which clearly sets out mutual goals and expectations. While in Russia, interns are expected to make contact with members of the Harvard Club to promote the cultivation of new host organizations.
At the conclustion of their internships, grant recipients will be required to write a brief report detailing their experience. Grantees will be asked to present their internship reports at a meeting in the following academic year.
Application Procedure
Interested students should download the application form, fill it out, and turn it in to the Davis Center starting Monday, March 5, 2007. Late applications will be accepted if funds are still available. Completed applications should be submitted to the Davis Center in CGIS South, 1730 Cambridge Street, Room S301-C. Finalists may be asked to interview with the selection committee before grant decisions are made.
Applications consist of the application form, a statement of purpose of up to 500 words, a budget, a current resume, a letter from the host organization, a letter of reference, and a current official transcript.
