FLAS Fellowships

Overview
The Davis Center receives funding from the US Department of Education for the Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship program.

Academic year FLAS fellowships cover up to $12,000 tuition and an annual stipend of $15,000. Remaining tuition, if any, is covered by Harvard University.

Summer FLAS fellowships cover up to $3600 tuition plus $2400 stipend.

Eligible prospective students should file a FLAS fellowship application along with their application for admission and financial aid. The deadline is January 2, 2007.

Eligibility
Harvard graduate students who are (or are in the process of becoming) US citizens or permanent residents.

FLAS recipients may not receive concurrent federal support from other sources, with the exception of student loans and work/study.

Requirements
Applicants must be accepted for advanced training in both a foreign language and area or international studies OR be accepted for research and training in the international aspects of professional (or other) fields of study which involve further development of language proficiency.
