Humor

Limited Enrollment Course
4 units
6-8:30 pm

Scott Badler

This course introduces students to the elements of writing humor: meter, rhythm, juxtaposition of words, predictability, and unpredictability. Students learn how to develop ideas, voice, and style; how to invert, twist, and exaggerate. They examine forms of humor (satire, lampoon, parody), as well as vehicles for humor (essay, sitcom, and stand-up). Marketing techniques and promotion also are addressed.
