Beginning Poetry

Limited Enrollment Course

Section 1: Janet Sylvester -- M, W 6-8:30 pm
Section 2: Bruce Smith -- M, W 1-3:30 pm

Students learn and practice the fundamentals of writing poetry while examining the antecedents and range of contemporary poetry. Poetic elements (such as rhythm, imagery, diction, and tone) and poetic forms (such as the sonnet and villanelle) are emphasized. Intended for those who write regularly and wish to broaden their skills and talents.
