     The Harvard Crimson played their single day of fall baseball games vs UMass Lowell on Sunday afternoon at LeLacheur Park, home of the Lowell Spinners and the UMass Lowell River Hawks. The Crimson emerged with a two game sweep, 8-5 and 7-1, both 9 inning games.
     Harvard pounded out 14 hits in the opener, led by Junior Trey Hendricks with 3 singles and 2 RBIs. Freshmen Zak Farkes and Lance Salsgiver each contributed 2 hits and each scored twice. Salsgiver batted in the leadoff spot. He beat out a bunt for a single in the top of the sixth and lined a double over the left fielder's head in the eighth. Senior Brian Lentz marked his return to Harvard baseball with two hits, including a double.
     Five other players joined the hit parade, each with one hit. Senior Nick Seminara ripped a pinch hit double for two RBIs in the top of the eighth as Harvard scored five runs to take a 8-1 lead. Soph Schuyler Mann, Junior Marc Hordon, Freshman Frank Herrmann and Soph Ian Wallace each singled in the game.
     Harvard pitching held the River Hawks to 5 hits. Freshman Matt Brunning picked up the victory, hurling two strong innings, allowing only one hit. Sophomores Mike Morgalis and Javi Arteaga joined Freshman Wes Cosgriff with two shutout innings each.
     Freshman Farkes led the Crimson with 3 hits as they completed the sweep with a 7-1 victory in the second game. Farkes singled to left in the first, advanced to second on a walk to Brian Lentz and then scored as the catcher's throw went into left field as he and Lentz executed a successful double steal. Farkes homered on a 2-2 pitch in the sixth to extend the Crimson lead to 2-0. He then lined a RBI double in the seventh, as Harvard scored 4 runs to break the game open.
     Three other Crimson batters had one hit each. Schuyler Mann doubled to right center in the seventh to drive in the first two runs of the inning. Freshman Morgan Brown beat out a bunt single to lead off the seventh and Freshman Chris Mackey contributed a double later in the inning.
     Harvard pitching duplicated the first game by again allowing only five hits over the nine innings. Freshmen Javi Castellanos, Frank Herrmann and Mike Dukovich each hurled two shutout innings, Castellanos struck out 4 UMass Lowell hitters to lead the Crimson in that catagory for the day. Overall, Harvard pitching recorded 10 strike outs in game two.
     The Crimson will hold two intersquad scrimmages on next Friday and Sunday, before concluding fall activity with the annual Scout's Day at O'Donnell Field on Wed, October 16th.
