Introduction to Social Anthropology

Students will explore anthropological approaches to society, culture, and history. Lectures, readings, and films will illustrate social and cultural diversity through a range of themes such as kinship, social organization, ideology, religion, exchange, subsistence, gender, social change, and global social issues. Students also will grapple with anthropologists' intellectual and ethical challenges.
